Managing payment accounts
A payment account is the vehicle through which patrons can pay fees and fines. Portfolio currently supports ProPay®, PayPal™, and Payflow Pro as means of fulfilling library user payments. You must set up the third-party payment service before you can set up a Portfolio payment account.
ProPay accounts are set up by SirsiDynix and managed through BLUEcloud Commerce. For more information, contact your SirsiDynix representative.
PayPal and Payflow Pro payment accounts are linked through a web service to your ILS. If you are using the Symphony ILS, you will also need a Symphony account through which all payments are authorized. This may be an existing user's account or a new account set up for this purpose.

If you are setting up payments for a consortium, you may use a single payment account for all libraries in the consortium. However, if you want payments to be associated with each library separately, you must apply for separate third-party payment services and associate each service with a corresponding payment account. When your system is configured to use BLUEcloud Commerce, every profile in the system will use the same BLUEcloud Commerce payment service except for those profiles that you override to use a payment account. For more information about overriding BLUEcloud Commerce for a profile, see . |

If you are using the Symphony ILS, you must set up Symphony Web Services to use the native currency before Portfolio can manage payments. In Symphony, designate the native currency in the Currency Wizard (for more information, see the "Currency Wizard" Help topic). In Symphony Web Services, map the native currency to the correct ISO code (for more information, see "Mapping Currency" in the Symphony Web Services Setup Guide). |

You can change the currency symbol in the Fines tab to the local currency symbol. To change the symbol, go to Language Files in the Admin console and search for the "$" symbol in each language that you use and replace it with the correct currency symbol for your area (for more information, see Editing language strings in a file). |
